TIPS TO REDUCE TOOTH SENSITIVITY

Go easy.

The harsher you’re brushing, the more your enamel can be thinned out — exposing the receptive nerve tissues underneath. That’s why reducing sensitivity pain requires ongoing, extra-careful care. Even if you’ve seen some improvement, keep gently brushing, and only with soft bristles.

Settle down.

Yearning to reduce sensitivity pain can lead to stress, you’ll agree — but did you know stress can cause the problem? If you wake up with a sore jaw (or mysterious headache), the secret could be that you’ve been grinding your teeth. Look into wearing a mouth guard at night to help reduce sensitivity pain.

Take a break from whitening.

If you want to reduce sensitivity pain, reassure yourself that your teeth don’t need to be white as whitening procedures may result in tooth sensitivity. If you’re whitening often, take a break and see if this will help reduce sensitivity pain!

Change toothpastes.

A message in support of reducing sensitivity pain: please ditch your favourite mint-flavoured paste and look for something geared for sensitive teeth, such as a paste with potassium nitrate.

Don’t grin and bear it.

If your poor teeth are giving you grief that lasts for more than a minute, get yourself to a dentist for some professional treatment options. Not only will your dentist diagnose the issue, but they can advise you regarding treatments to help combat the pain.

At the very least, you could add LISTERINE TOTAL CARE FOR SENSITIVE TEETH® to your daily routine to reduce the pain caused by tooth sensitivity. Or try LISTERINE ULTRACLEAN® Enamel Protection ZERO to help strengthen your tooth enamel (with ZERO alcohol for a less intense taste).
